Permanent Makeup FAQs

What is permanent makeup ?

This trendy procedure involves introducing colouring pigments under the skin, up to 1 mm deep, using a specialized tattoo machine equipped with a micro-needle.

What is the Aquarelle lip blush ?

Aquarelle/watercolour lips is a technique that provides the most natural lip tint available in permanent makeup. A watercolour lip tattoo restores your natural lip contour, definition, colour, fullness, and more! Just add a little balm, and your lips will display a subtle, natural-looking tint. This method is soft and fresh—no harsh outlines, just a subtle blush of colour to define shape and make lips look naturally plump and flushed.

How long does the permanent make up procedure take?

The actual procedure takes one and a half to two hours, but prior to that, there is a consultation, sketch creation, and the use of an anesthetic, which also takes extra time.

What’s the difference between powder brows and micro blading?

You could say the two techniques are arch rivals, since they both amplify the shape and colour of brows but use different tools and methods to achieve their results. Microblading creates tiny cuts in the skin and implants pigment, producing the appearance of individual hair strokes. With powder brows, the pigment is deposited more superficially using a dot-like application to create a softer, fuller look, often resulting in a gradient effect.

The machine used for powder brows gently scratches the skin to deposit colour into the top layers only, making it less invasive than the scalpel-like blade used in microblading. Plus, this approach offers your artist more control over pigment placement.

How long does Aquarelle lip blush take to heal?

Healing time for lip blush is very quick and easy—just a few days of applying lip balm. The area may be slightly swollen for a day or two. It is recommended to avoid spicy foods, swimming, saunas, and exercise for five days.

What age is appropriate for these procedures?

There are no strict age limits for this procedure, but some guidelines apply. It is generally not advised to get a tattoo before the age of 18, as the body is still growing and developing during this time.

What is the powder brows technique?

Powdered brows are the balayage of permanent makeup: a more natural-looking alternative to microblading that enhances the shape and colour of your brows for 1 to 3 years. Also called ombre brows, this technique uses mineral-based micro-pigments instead of tattoo ink, as is used in microblading, to create a shaded, shadowy effect that darkens, shapes, and defines brows on all skin tones.

How long does it take for permanent makeup to heal?

During the first few hours, slight swelling may occur, and a scab may form on the treated skin. The peeling process usually takes 2 to 4 days. Over the following 5 to 10 days, the skin heals, and the intensity of the colour gradually diminishes. By the 30th day after your appointment, the skin is almost completely recovered, and the final effect of the procedure becomes visible.

How do you care for powder brows?

It takes approximately 4 to 6 weeks for your brows to settle. The process breaks down into about 5 to 8 days for initial healing and around 30 days for the colour to fully set, once your skin cells have completed a full turnover cycle.

To protect the pigment and prevent the colour from fading, keep your brows safe at all costs from water, sun, soap, sweat, and oil.

Sun exposure can lighten your brows, especially when the ink is fresh. Only after your eyebrows are completely healed should they be exposed to the sun.

Around day five, your brows may become flaky. This is your skin’s natural way of exfoliating and healing. It is very important not to pick the scab, as doing so will remove pigment.

Over the course of three weeks, the pigment may darken slightly and then mellow to the perfect tone. The final result will be a powdery, diffused shape that looks naturally beautiful at all times.

How long do Aquarelle lips last?

The colour is very vibrant for the first two days, then it begins to settle, softening and appearing very natural by day five. A touch-up is needed later; if you do not receive your touch-up within the recommended timeframe, it will be considered incomplete and must be booked as a refresher rather than a touch-up. Refreshers are recommended every one and a half to three years.

How much does permanent makeup cost?
