Tattoo Aftercare FAQs
Can my new tattoo get wet?
You may rinse your tattoo if dirt is present, but never soak your tattoo. Do not soak the tattoo in water (e.g. bathing, swimming, etc.) or sweat profusely (e.g. saunas, working out, etc.) for at least two weeks, or until the tattoo has healed.
Can my new tattoo be exposed to sunlight?
Do not expose your new tattoo to sunlight for at least four weeks, or until the tattoo is healed. Apply sunblock to the tattoo if it will be exposed to the sun.
How long will it take for my new tattoo to heal?
Healing time varies. The average healing time for a new tattoo is 7-14 days.
What type of clothing should I wear on top of my new tattoo?
Wear loose clothing that allows your healing tattoo to breathe.
Can I use petroleum jelly or antibiotic creams/ointments on my tattoo?
Do not use petroleum jelly or antibiotic creams/ointments. On the day of your session, your tattoo artist will recommend tattoo aftercare products to ensure your tattoo heals properly.
Do touch-ups cost extra?
Any touch-up work required can be completed up to three months from your tattoo date. Thereafter, any additional details or work added will done at your cost.
My new tattoo is peeling and itching. Is this normal?
A slight protective scab will form in about 2 days. Peeling and itching skin are normal while your new tattoo heals. You can apply lotion or cream, but do not pick, scratch, or rub your tattoo – this will cause damage to the design. Let it heal naturally.
